Alli and Cody Simpson are fast becoming the most loved siblings in the entertainment realm.
But 16-year-old Alli has opened up about her life in the spotlight, revealing to Daily Mail Australia on Sunday that her pop star brother is ‘very protective’ but has annoying habits, just like any other.
Ahead of her trip Down Under for the Brisbane launch of fashion chain Forever 21, the rising star said her sibling gets under her skin when he ‘sings too much around the house.’
Alli, who grew up on Australia’s Gold Coast, will be flying in from her current home in Los Angeles to help officially open the latest Forever 21 store on Thursday.
The Brisbane shop will be the first of its kind in the country, and is sure to send shoppers into a frenzy.
Although Cody won’t be accompanying his sister on the short trip, Alli has opened up about her family life with the chart topping star.
While the 18-year-old is a heartthrob in the music world, at home he’s just a regular teen with some agitating habits.
‘He sings too much around the house, he literally sings 24/7,’ said Alli playfully.
There isn’t any sibling rivalry in the Simpson household, but some awkward situations have occurred between the two singers.
Recently Alli became involved with one of Cody’s closest buddies, a Gold Coast boy who is also a family friend.
‘I had a big crush on one of his best friends and that didn’t go very well,’ the blonde beauty revealed.
‘Obviously in the moment I couldn’t help my feelings. We figured it out in the end and it’s all over and done now but we are still close.’
She’s happily single now, but said the romance was ‘a funny situation’ because Cody is ‘very protective.’
The avid social media user has an eye for style, and it currently working on her own fashion line.
But she says she sometimes gets unusual looks for her Aussie taste, revealing that not everyone overseas is in favour of the staple footwear item of thongs.
‘It’s definitely not trendy over here, I wore them out to go to the grocery store and I was getting weird looks, it was ridiculous.’
While it looks like she’s living the life in Santa Monica with a flourishing career, Alli says she encounters problems just like every other teen, in particular about her weight.
She revealed that she’s been plagued by internet trolls who make negative comments about her body.
‘It’s a close topic for me…I have to exercise and eat right every single day to keep myself in shape.’
‘It’s not easy when you get bullied about that stuff if you’re very self conscious. I’m a normal person and I have struggles like that as well.’
Alli will be at the Forever 21 launch in Brisbane on the 16th of October along with Bachelor Australia star Lisa.
She was recently in Australia for Nickelodeon Slimefest in Sydney and Melbourne where she performed for the very first time.
The Australian-born talent is also currently working on a show with Radio Disney, which will see her host a segment every Friday night.
Alli recorded this video for a chance to win tickets to the LA Red Carpet Premiere of How To Train Your Dragon 2. Contest has already ended.
